Mrs Chen Teaching Her Sons is a controversial one among Guan Hanqing’s plays.It tells the story of Mrs Chen urges her sons to read classic books and his three sons pass the imperial examination as the first ranked scholar,shaping the characters of Mrs Chen,Chen Liangsou and others.The main content of this drama is to promote the teachings of Confucius and Mencius,and to promote active participation in the society.Confucianism is particularly profound,and the speech and behavior of the main characters carry the imprint of Confucianism,which is manifested in the pursuit of fame and official advancement,the promotion of human ethics,and the tendency to advocate morality and benevolence.
