Objective To explore the impact of virtual reality(VR)therapy on the motor function of lower limbs, equilibrium, control of the torso and ambulatory capabilities in individuals with partial spinal cord injuries. Methods A total of 46 patients with incomplete spinal cord injuries, treated in the Rehabilitation Medicine Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from January 2022 to December 2023 were collected and randomly divided into a treatment group and a control group, each with 23 patients. All patients were given basic treatment and routine rehabilitation treatment. The treatment group received an additional 30 minutes of VR on this basis, while the control group continued rehabilitation for 30 minutes on the basis of routine rehabilitation treatment,5 days per week, for a course of 8 weeks. Before treatment and 8 weeks after treatment,American Spinal Injury Association(ASIA)scale,Berg balance scale(BBS),trunk control test(TCT)scale, and Holden functional ambulatory category scale(FAC)were used to evaluate the patient’s lower limb motor ability, balance ability, trunk control ability, and walking ability. Results Before treatment, there was no statistically difference in ASIA,BBS,TCT and FAC scores between the two groups(P>0.05).After treatment, the ASIA,BBS,TCT and FAC scores of the two groups were higher than before treatment, and the ASIA,BBS,TCT and FAC scores of the treatment group were higher than those of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion VR rehabilitation can improve the lower limb function of patients with incomplete spinal cord injuries, enhance their balance, trunk control ability, and walking ability.
