西汉南阳郡舂陵侯国的“南迁”问题

Probing into the“Southward Migration”of the Chongling Marquisate(舂陵侯国)in Nanyang Prefecture during the Western Han Dynasty

张卓远、包明军《西汉舂陵内迁地望及其演变问题探讨》认为,西汉晚期王莽势力的扩张及对刘氏宗族的打压,迫使舂陵侯国南迁枣阳。这一观点是对有关史料的误解。实际上,新都侯国与舂陵侯国不相邻,新都侯国的地盘没有扩大,所以,舂陵侯国“南迁”的理由不成立。至于距离宛城三百里的“舂陵”应该是刘玄家所在的舂陵村,而不可能是舂陵侯国。

Zhang Zhuoyuan and Bao Mingjun,in their article titled“An Exploration of the Internal Migration and Evolution of Chongling(舂陵)during the Late Western Han Dynasty,”argue that the expansion of the usurper Wang Mang’s influence and the suppression of the Liu clan during the late Western Han period compelled the Chongling Marquisate(舂陵侯国)to migrate southward to Zaoyang County.This viewpoint misinterprets the relevant historical materials;in fact,the Xindu Marquisate(新都侯国)is not adjacent to the Chongling Marquisate,and the territory of the Xindu Marquisate remained unexpanded.Therefore,the justification for the“southward migration”of the Chongling Marquisate is unfounded.Furthermore,the Chongling described as being located three hundred li from Wancheng should refer to the village of Chongling associated with Liu Xuan(namely the Gengshi Emperor of the Han dynasty that had been restored following the downfall of Wang Mang’s short-lived Xin Dynasty),rather than the Chongling Marquisate itself.
