摘要 Thoreau expresses his love for nature and criticism of materialism in Walden,emphasizing the harmonious relationship between nature and human beings.Besides this significance,rhetorical devices like simile,metaphor,personification,parallelism,overstatement,irony and pun contribute to unique charm of this masterpiece's language and thoughts.
