The distribution of the strength of the gravitational field in the galactic plane and the relation between the gravitation affecting the Sun in the Galaxy and the distance r from the Sun to the center of the Galaxy are discussed. The conclusion is that they are not inversely proportional to the square of r.It is pointed out that this is caused by non-negligibility of the size and shape of the Galaxy and the condition on which the law of universal gravitation is used is emphasized.
