大学在科学观念与功利意识间的态度

The Attitude Universities Should Take Between Scientific Beliefs and Utilitarian Awareness

现代意义的大学自其诞生起就持守着一个基本的理念:在内部应享有高度学术自由的权利;对社会应承担充分关心人类生存及其价值、推进社会发展的任务。在当代,决定人类生存、活动的因素发生了根本变化,但大学依然遵循着这一基本理念,它对人类自身和社会所负的任务比以往更繁重、更紧迫了。针对目前大学中存在的急功近利现象,大学在坚持科学观念与追求功利意识间应取的态度是:要既讲功利追求又超越功利主义;要特别关注关于人和人类社会的研究;要重视基础学科,为技术学科的发展提供稳固宽阔的基础;要更加关心和重视人类的尊严与价值;要努力推进跨地域跨文化的合作与交流。

Universities in its modern sense have been keeping an essential belief even since they came into being: they must ensure great internal academic freedom, while showing great external concern for human existence and its values and taking full responsibility for promoting social development.In our times,vital changes taken place in the wrold,particularly with regard to the determinants for human existence and activities--science and technology have become a powerful driving force for social changes and advancement,and globalization has to a great extent become a decisive factor for human existence and hought.But universities still cling to their essential belief as before,and therefore they have been bearing even more heavy and urgent responsibility for humankind itself and society.Taking into consideration the eagerness existing in universities nowadays for quick success and instant benefit,this paper discusses from philosophical,anthropological and social perspectiver the attitude that universities are supposed totake between scientific beliefs and utilitarian awareness.It proposes that they should pursue utilitarian gains while avoiding utilitarianism,attach special importance to the study of humans
