The novel Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro uses the non-human narrative paradigm to de-scribe the story that Klara, an artificial friend, helps Josie alleviate her loneliness and get rid of being replaced by an artificial intelligence robot. Klara plays the role of narrator, focuser and character at the two levels of story and discourse. This paper explores the artistic value of defamiliarization in robotic narrative and the complex emotional flow revealed behind it from three dimensions: the initialization of robot Klara’s narrative language, the limited perspective focus and deferred plotline, which helps readers deepen the understanding of the importance of keeping our body and mind intact in a post-human world where nature and effect both have disintegrated and died.
