汉语四字格在爱伦·坡小说汉译中的运用效果

The Use of Chinese Four-word Pattern and It’s Effects in Translation of Allan Poe’s Novels from English into Chinese

19世纪美国诞生了一位文学巨匠——埃德加·爱伦·坡,他所著的推理小说构思奇特,情节巧妙悬疑,结局出人意料,激起读者极大的阅读兴趣和快感。周作人是国内翻译爱伦·坡小说的第一人,其后国内对爱伦坡·坡小说的译介经历了零散阶段、系统阶段和重译阶段。2019年陆道夫开始重新翻译爱伦·坡小说,试图在经典重译或复译上有些贡献。陆道夫在爱伦·坡的汉译实践中运用了较多的汉语四字格,呈现其鲜明的翻译风格和译文特色。无论是书面语抑或是口语,汉语四字格的使用频率都很高。正因如此,很多译者在英汉翻译实践过程中往往尝试灵活使用四字格,以增加译文目标语的特色优势。有鉴于此,笔者精选了陆译文中的汉语四字格,作为本文的研究语料,旨在分析汉语四字格在爱伦·坡的汉译实践的语用特征和语用效果,以期为爱伦·坡小说经典的重译或复译实践提供参考和借鉴。

In the 19 th century,a great literary master,Edgar Allan Poe was born in the United States.His mystery novels are strange and unique in conception,clever and suspenseful in plot and astonishing in ending,which arouse readers’great interest and pleasure in reading.Zhou Zuoren was the first one to translate Poe’s novels in China.Later,the introduction and translation of Poe’s novels in China experienced a phrase from fragmented translation stage to systematic translation stage and then to retranslation stage.In 2019,Lu Daofu began to retranslate Poe’s novels,trying to make a contribution to retranslation of classic works.There are a number of Chinese four-character patterns in Lu Daofu’s Chinese translation,presenting his distinctive translation style and translator characteristics.The Chinese four-character pattern is used very frequently whether in written forms or oral communication.Therefore,many translators use Chinese four-character patterns flexibly in their English-Chinese translation activities for the purpose of exposing the advantages of target language.In view of this,the author selects the four-character Chinese in Lu’s translation as cases,trying to analyze the characteristics and effect of the Chinese four-character,in the hope of providing reference for the practice of retranslation of Allan Poe’s novels.
