The problem of identity has arisen as a modern phenomenon, and one of the reasons is the separation of the concept between the place of birth and nationality. This natural connection was a single cause and effect in the past.In the modern world, everyone lives in"modern mobility",which is characterized by"dynamics",that is,the lack of stability. In this case, the issue of identity naturally becomes the most difficult problem to solve.Through the interpretation of the protagonist’s growth process in Jamaican novel Gone to the Dogs(Madame),the importance of the concept, proposed by Homi K.Bhabha who is the representative of contemporary western postcolonial theory,to the issue of identity can be seen.
