摘要
杜威是经验自然主义哲学的开创者、民主主义者和进步主义教育家,经验、民主和教育是其毕生谈论的话题,他认为这三者密不可分。巧合的是,当代新类型公共艺术激使经验生长、落实民主理念、具有教育性质。新类型公共艺术发展于20世纪末,彼时杜威早已辞世,杜威在世时亦不欣赏后印象派以后的任何艺术流派,二者看似没有明显的关联。但是,新类型公共艺术确实呼应杜威的哲学视点,暗合杜威的哲学思想。倘使杜威在世,他应该会欣赏新类型公共艺术。总之,杜威哲学对新类型公共艺术具备解释力,对新类型公共艺术话语至关重要,富有先见之明的意义和知往鉴今的价值。
John Dewey,the founder of pragmatic naturalistic philosophy,a democrat,and a progressive educator,dedicated his life to the discussion of experience,democracy,and education,considering them inseparable.Interestingly,contemporary New Genre Public Art promotes experiential growth,embodies democratic ideals,and possesses educational qualities.Emerging in the late 20th century,New Genre Public Art developed after Dewey’s passing,and during his lifetime,he did not appreciate any art movements that emerged after Post-Impressionism,seemingly lacking an evident connection.However,New Genre Public Art resonates with Dewey’s philosophical viewpoints and aligns with his philosophical thoughts.If Dewey were alive,he would likely appreciate New Genre Public Art.In conclusion,Dewey’s philosophy has explanatory power for New Genre Public Art and is essential in discussing it,carrying profound significance and contemporary relevance.
