Aesthetic Characteristics is Lukács’development of the Capital’s aesthetics.Aesthetic Characteristics focuses on the category of"labour",taking it as the methodology,and runs through the review and analysis of the origins of different artistic forms.Starting from"the process of exchange between people and natural material",Lukács discusses the origin and essence of aesthetic appreciation,the origin of artistic forms,the special object and function of art and the condition of aesthetic activities,the relation between natural beauty and society,the relation between artistic development and society.Using the concept of"homogenous media",Lukács analyzes questions of how different artistic types"grasp the world",the relation between the relation between specific forms of different art types and the approaches of how a"whole person"perceive the world and how can art possesses the function of trancending daily life and so on in depth.As such,the internal relation between Lukács’aesthetics and"labour"aesthetic thoughts gets exposed.
