Cambodian Strategy for the Development of Energy:Current Progress and Future Prospect

柬埔寨政府认识到能源服务对经济活动、社会发展和人民生活质量至关重要,因此将增加能源供应、降低能源成本和提高国家能源的可靠性和安全性列为主要优先事项。此外,政府还相当重视能源开发对环境和社会可能造成的副作用。柬埔寨能源领域在过去几十年中经历了巨大的转变并取得了重大的进展,该领域的投资前景广阔,作为农村电气化基金的一部分,水电厂和太阳能发电厂可获得高达总投资成本25%的补贴。然而,柬埔寨也面临可能制约其发展的若干问题,比如基础设施和人力资源不足等。

With the understandings that the energy services are essential to economic activity,social development and quality of the population’s lives,the Royal Government of Cambodia has outlined the key priorities which includes the increase of energy access,reduction of the cost of energy and improvement of the country’s energy reliability and security.Alongside,the government also takes into account considerably about the side effect related to environment and society.The Cambodian energy sector has experienced a huge transformation with astronomical progress in the past decades.Regarding the investment prospect,there is a number of investment opportunities in the energy sector of Cambodia.On top of it,for instance,as part of rural electrification fund,hydropower plants and solar power systems are entitled to receive subsidies up to 25%of the total investment cost.Nevertheless,Cambodia is also facing several issues regarding physical infrastructure and human capacity that could hinder the realization of its objectives.
