Dong Zhongshu’s Philosophy of Heaven and Man and Its Humanistic Value

董仲舒思想中的天作为多层次、多面向的复合型范畴将人涵摄其中,由是规制了其天人一体的哲学图式,并在"同而通理"的交互运化之际生成着天人合德之意蕴。天人合德的人文价值主要于两个方面体现:在个体意义上,客观上以正反双向维度形成了对人的主体性建构的潜在性永恒培固;在整体意义上,以朝向理想社会的旨归而型构着现实社会的良性秩序。

Based on the thought that heaven is a multilevel and multifaceted compound category which includes human,Dong Zhongshu formed his philosophical schema of the unity of heaven and man and harmony between heaven and man through the interaction between the two.The humanistic value of harmony between heaven and man is mainly manifested in two aspects.On the individual level,both the positive and negative dimensions of the idea of heaven helps foster and constrain human nature in the long run,while in the overall sense,it promoted the establishment of good orders for an ideal society.
