《政府工作报告》英译文语法结构特点探索

目前译界对《政府工作报告》英译文用词特点研究颇多,但对其语法结构的研究偏少。本文探讨英译文中的语法现象和结构特点,重点讨论过去研究较少、很多译者尚未掌握的翻译方法,包括根据语义需要而使用不同的动词时态,添加衔接词以增加清晰度,前置定语的量化,并列结构的处理,从属结构的选择,主动与被动,信息的增补与删减,长句的切分,添加总结词等。如能深入挖掘出政府工作报告英译文使用的各种翻译技巧,有助于提高全国各下属部门和各地政府的文件英译质量。

Studies abound concerning the lexical features of the English versions of the Reports on the Work of the Government,whereas studies on their grammatical and structural characteristics are scarce.This paper investigates their grammatical/structural traits,especially those that have so far been largely unexplored.Its researches include flexible use of verb tenses in response to semantic needs,adding of cohesive words to enhance clarity,the proper number of premodifiers,treatment of parallel structures,selection of subordinate structures,the active and passive voices,adding and deleting of information,split of a long sentence,and adding of summary words.If more ingenious devices of translating official documents can be identified,they are surely conducive to improvement of the translations of lower-government documents.
