阿瑟·韦利英译白居易诗歌研究——以《汉诗一百七十首》为例

A Study of the Translation of Po Chu-I’s Poetry by Arthur Waley:with One Hundred and Seventy Chinese Poems as an Example

在英国汉学家阿瑟·韦利漫长的中国诗歌翻译生涯中,他最钟情于白居易的诗歌。《汉诗一百七十首》是韦利终身研究中国诗歌的基础,是他翻译杰出成就中的里程碑,其中,韦利对白居易诗歌的翻译让"诗魔"为西方熟识、赏析,为白居易诗歌的译介与传播作出了突出贡献。本文深入分析白诗的翻译,通过对比举例,探析韦利鲜明的翻译特色。本文从韦利对白居易诗歌作品的选择、诗歌作品的意境还原以及韦利对白居易诗歌作品的翻译方法探讨,进而体现韦利对于白居易诗歌翻译的重要价值。

In the long career of English Sinologist Arthur Waley’s Chinese poetry translation,he is most fond of Po Chu-I’s poetry.One hundred and seventy Chinese poems is the basis of Waley’s lifelong study of Chinese poetry and a milestone in his outstanding achievements in translation.Among them,Waley’s translation of Po Chu-I’s poetry has made the"demon of poetry"well known and appreciated by the West,and he also has made outstanding contributions to the translation,introduction and dissemination of Po Chu-I’s poetry.This paper makes an in-depth analysis of the translation of Po Chu-I’s poetry,and explores the distinctive features of Waley’s translation through some comparative examples.And this paper discusses Waley’s selection of Po Chu-I’s poems,the restoration of Po Chu-I’s artistic conception and the translation methods of those poems,so as to reflect Waley’s important value in the translation of Po Chu-I’s poems.
