A New Early-maturing Water Caltrop Cultivar‘June-Water Caltrop’

‘六月菱’是以‘嘉鱼菱’为母本,‘汉川红菱’为父本,通过人工杂交、系谱选择而成的早熟菱新品种。嫩菱果皮粉红泛绿色,两角,肩角尖端锐尖,果角平伸。果实近三角形,单果质量25.0 g,果肉率48.20%。嫩菱采收始期7月10日左右,可持续采收至10月上旬,菱产量15983 kg·hm^(-2)。粉质程度中等。具有早熟、高产、商品性好等优点,适宜在湖北及周边菱产区种植。

‘June-Water Caltrop’is a new early-maturing water caltrop bred by artificial crossing between‘Jiayu Water Caltrop’(female parent)and‘Hanchuan Water Caltrop’(male parent),and then by pedigree breeding.The tender fruit color is pinkish-green.The fruit horn number is two.The upper horn tip shape is acute and the upper horn posture is horizontal.The fruit shape is near triangular.The single fruit weight is about 25.0 g and the ratio of flesh to whole fruit is 48.20%.The first harvest day of tender fruit is about July 10.It can be harvested continously to early-October.The yield is 15983 kg·hm^(-2).Its mealy degree is intermediate.It has excellent characteristics such as early-maturing,high yield and good commodity value.It is suitable to plant in and around Hubei Province which has water caltrop cultivation.
