J.M.Coetzee’s Jesus Trilogy contains much of what is called community narrative.Apart from creating characters of singularity isolated from society,the novels affirm the possibility of constructing spiritual communities formed by individuals hoping to overcome loneliness and isolation.In Jesus Trilogy,the dualism of singularity and community does not just coexist in a paradoxical way,reflecting Coetzee’s own transformation and changed state of mind after his emigration from South Africa,but it also provides a literary frame of reference for potential reconciliation of disagreements in the intellectual history.
