Drug addiction is a global public health problem that poses an enormous health burden worldwide. However, due to the complexity of the developmental mechanisms of drug addiction, the development of effective treatments still faces challenges, and there is an urgent need to analyze the development and maintenance patterns of drug addiction in order to promote the development of scientific intervention methods. In this paper, based on the I-PACE model, the mechanism model of drug addiction is constructed around the four components of"individual-emotion-cognition-behavior",and the intrinsic connection and logical relationship among the elements are analyzed. We believe that drug addiction is the result of the interaction of triggers(e.g.,core traits),moderators(e.g.,coping styles),and mediators(e.g.,affective and cognitive responses to situational triggers),and that the reduction of executive functioning and the enhancement of attentional bias may strengthen these links.Although the I-PACE model helps to analyze the mechanisms of addictive behaviors and provides a theoretical basis for clinical intervention,it still has limitations.Future studies should focus on the interactions between drug type, gender, and the core components of the model to enhance the explanatory power of the I-PACE model in the field of drug addiction.
