摘要
语言政策对跨国公司提升市场竞争力、“走向国际”起关键作用。本文报告了一项采用语言民族志探讨中国跨国公司英语化语言政策和实践的研究。基于“筛选—规范—优化”语言资源的分析框架,揭示英语化语言政策在中国跨国公司的形成、推进与影响。从“组织化”和“自主”两个维度,探讨该政策如何作用于企业和个人层面。本研究将语言政策与员工职业身份认同的构建、协商相结合,呼吁在语言政策的研究框架中纳入对身份调节、规训的理解。
Language policy in a multinational corporation plays a key role in enhancing its market competitiveness for“going global”.This paper reports a study using linguistic ethnography approach to explore Englishization policy and practices in a Chinese multinational corporation.Based on the analytical framework of“selectingstandardizing-optimizing”linguistic resources,the aim is to analyze the formation,promotion,and impact of Englishization as language policy.It discusses how the policy works at the corporation and employee level through the“organizational”and“individual”dimensions.By combining Englishization with the construction and negotiation of professional identity,this study calls for integrating understandings of identity regulation and discipline into research frameworks of language policy.
