身份元话语:语用身份意识的元话语表征

Identity Metadiscourse: Metadiscursive Representation of Pragmatic Identity Awareness

交际者动态身份选择与磋商方面的现有研究主要关注身份建构类型、话语实践方式、磋商与调整、语境影响因素、交际效果等,鲜有触及人际互动中交际者的语用身份意识,对其元话语表征同样缺乏系统的考察。本文在现有研究成果基础上提出"身份元话语"的概念及两种分类;作为示例,考察了中国驻美国大使访谈中所使用的身份元话语类型,探讨了其使用身份元话语的可能动因,旨在说明其关于身份的元语用意识。研究结果有益于深化语用身份及元话语的现有研究,对关键语境下的话语实践具有指导意义。

Existing research on communicators’dynamic identity choice and negotiation mainly focuses on types of identity constructed,discursive practices,negotiation and adjustment,contextual correlates,communicative effects,and the like.Little attention has been directed to the communicators’pragmatic identity awareness in interpersonal interactions as well as its metadiscursive representations.Drawing on related research,this study proposes the notion of"identity metadiscourse"as well as two taxonomies.By way of illustration,it examines the types of identity metadiscourse used by China’s ambassador to the US in an interview,and explores his possible motivations behind the use of the identity metadiscourse,in an effort to pinpoint his metapragmatic awareness of identity.It is hoped that the present study may further current research on pragmatic identity and metadiscourse and provide guidance to discursive practices in critical contexts.
