On the Relationship Between Clan Literature Printing and Genealogy Compilation

清代至民国,宁波的文献出版非常兴盛,特别是木活字印刷与宁波本土宗族文化的结合,在家谱刊印方面起了举足轻重的作用。这期间产生了大量的家谱文献,同时,在编印家谱的过程中,各大家族也积极梳理自己家族的世功和文脉,产生了一批具有重要文献价值的氏族文献,包括家族合集、个人诗文集,甚至学术著作,并借刊印家谱之机,借由活字印刷术得以出版,在历史和文化的传承方面发挥了积极的作用。

From the Qing Dynasty to the Republican era,Ningbo saw a big boom in publishing,as a good combination,in particular,between wooden movable type and clan culture,played a crucial role in genealogy printing.During this period,not only was a large amount of genealogical texts produced,but big clans there,in the course of genealogical preparation and compilation,also sifted through family accomplishments and cultures in their respective lines of descent and produced a quantity of clan literature of academic significance,including clan compilations,poem collections and even academic writings,which were also printed and published.These clans helped to keep history and culture alive.
