Singapore has a thriving performing arts scene prior to the COVID-19 pandemic and the government has invested heavily in the development of performing arts infrastructure in the last two decades. The performing arts sector has been considered a vital part of the city-state’s creative industries.Collectively, the creative industries has been recognised as a significant contributor to Singapore’s GDP.Furthermore,Singapore has also excelled in the Global Innovation Index, which is widely recognised as a trustworthy source of reference for analysing and comparing the innovation levels and outputs of different nations.Given Singapore’s achievements in the innovation index and efforts in developing its CIs,this paper attempts to present the current state of IP monetisation in Singapore’s performing arts sector and makes brief recommendations for the sector’s future development of performing arts-related IP.A three-phase qualitative research process is employed for this study, which include secondary research, content analysis, and case study research. Two key outcomes were identified.First,IP monetisation in Singapore’s performing arts organisations are still in the infancy stage.Second, performing arts organisations lack the expertise to further develop the potential of IP monetisation.
