“潮州七贤”故事的由来及其在潮州木雕艺术中的应用

The Origin of the Story of “Seven Sages of Chaozhou” and Its Application in Chaozhou Woodcarving

"潮州七贤"不同时期所指人员构成有别,涉及宋明两代潮州地区的26名贤能之士。"潮州七贤"人物故事主要流行于今粤东地区,并成为木雕、金漆画、壁画、潮绣等潮汕地区传统工艺美术的独特题材,既可满足人们的装饰审美需求,又有成教化、助人伦、振风俗的作用。文章梳理"潮州七贤"等不同称谓的由来及其人物构成,并结合公私木雕收藏中涉及"七贤进京"题材的作品,分析其艺术特点和文化内涵,有助于深化学界对该题材的认知。

“The Seven Sages of Chaozhou”refers to the 26 cultural elites in Chaozhou during the Song and Ming Dynasties.Its members varied depending on the period.The story of“Seven Sages of Chaozhou”mainly circulated in today’s eastern Guangdong region and has become a unique subject of traditional arts and crafts in Chaoshan area,including woodcarving,golden lacquer painting,mural,and Chaoxiu embroidery.It not only meets people’s aesthetic needs but also plays a role in educating the public and elevating the ethics and mores of the region.This article analyzes the different versions of“Seven Sages of Chaozhou”and the members of them.It then studies artistic characteristics and cultural meanings of the woodcarvings of“Seven Sages Advancing to Beijing”in public and private collections,which will enhance scholars’understanding of this subject.
