Folk culture,as an ever-developing cultural phenomenon,has a rich corpus of material and intangible cultural heritage.A museum is a non-profit organization that serves society.To display and disseminate folk culture by exhibiting its cultural products is a mission for a museum in contemporary society.Moreover,it is also an important channel for folk art to enliven itself and reach the outside world.“A Life by the Sea:The South China Sea Fishery Exhibition(Hainan)”is an exhibition held by the Museum of the South China Sea(Hainan)to introduce the fishery culture at Hainan.The exhibition is an example of the museum’s fulfillment of its role in assisting the inheritance and dissemination of local culture,especially local folk culture.
