From September 7 to December 8,2019,Hangzhou Arts and Crafts Museum held the exhibition"Visioning China:Chinese Export Decoration Art in the 17 th to the 20 th Century".The exhibition, taking decorative crafts from the Sino-Western trade in the Qing dynasty as the display object, adopted the methodologies of iconography and iconology to examine the cultural exchange based on material exchange in this period from the perspective of cultural history.Starting from the construction of exhibition narrative, this paper discusses the curatorial idea of the exhibition from two aspects:"content narrative"and"spatial narrative".Through the selection and arrangement of"things"to restore"viewing in history",the juxtaposition and serial connection of"things"to link"viewing at present",the exhibition tried to construct a"third space"between the subjective world and the objective world. In this space, the inheritance of cultural heritage could be realized through a spiritual response evoked by a material object.
