Rural Wilderness and Its Generating Dimension: Rereading the Gate of Sheep

作为乡村荒野想象的滥觞,20世纪30年代萧红《生死场》从形而下和形而上两个层面揭示了这一文学景观何以生成,即物质的匮乏与意义的流失。其后很长时间这一乡村想象方式鲜有承继,直到20世纪80年代在一些作家笔下重新得以彰显。值得注意的是,自新世纪之交以至当下,乡村权力的黑暗运作,是导致乡村荒野化的内在根源。李佩甫长篇小说《羊的门》着力呈现了乡村"当家人"在急剧膨胀的权力欲望支配下,对村民进行精神奴役甚至暴力压制的情形,典型揭示乡村荒野景观生成的全新维度。

As the source of rural wilderness imagination,Xiao Hong’s Field of Life and Death in the 1930 s showed from the physical and metaphysical aspects how literary landscape was created,which originated from lack of materials and loss of meaning.For a long time after that,this way of rural imagination had seldom been inherited,until it reappeared in some writers’works in the 1980 s.It is worth noting that since the turn of the new century and even now,the dark operation of rural power has been the inherent source of the rural wilderness.The novel The Gate of Sheep by Li Peifu focuses on presenting how village heads,controlled by the rapidly expanding desire for power,spiritually enslave and even violently suppresse villagers,which typically reveals a new dimension in the generation of rural wilderness.
