Graphic memoir,a popular genre of life writing in Western countries in the first 20 years of the 21^(st) century, features prominently traumatic experiences. The reason for trauma as the important subject is that traumatic memory and comics share several common characteristics, including iconicity, fragmentation and emotional narration.Meanwhile, graphic memoir can effectively represent traumatic memory through the uses of separating subjects, using shadows and featuring bodies.Such close connections between graphic memoir and traumatic narrative contribute to the important role of this genre in 21^(st) century’s life writing.
