On the Questionable Autobiographicality of Susan Sontag’s Short Stories

因与作者真实经历相关,苏珊·桑塔格的短篇小说在学术史中通常被认为具有自传性特征,其中的内容甚至被传记作者当作真实材料写入桑塔格传记中。但实际上,桑塔格的短篇小说具有明显的道德指向,其故事情节的真实性也难以确证,这均与自传体的要素不符。就桑塔格的作家形象与创作意图来说,将她作品中个人经历的叙述视为自传性写作是不合理的,在某种程度上甚至是一种误读。

As related to the author’s real experience,Susan Sontag’s short stories are usually considered autobiographical,and even written in Sontag’s biographies as authentic material.However,Sontag’s short stories manifest obvious moral orientations,and the authenticity of the plots is difficult to verify,thus being inconsistent with autobiography.In terms of Sontag’s characteristics and writing intention,it is unreasonable,if not misunderstanding,to regard the personal experience in her works as autobiographical writing.
