隐形贫困:“准成人”的消费与自我文化

Invisible poverty: consumption and self-culture of emerging adult

消费是考察社会变迁最重要的视角之一。由消费者主导的社会中,处于成人初显期的"准成人"的日常消费实践呈现出不同以往的特点,隐形贫困成为普遍的社会现象。在文献回顾和田野调查的基础上,本文聚焦于"准成人"的消费实践,试图解释青年群体中出现"隐形贫困"的原因,了解"准成人"践行的日常消费行为具有的个体化意涵和社会意义。研究发现,在消费社会中,隐形贫困成为"准成人"的自我选择;"准成人"打破传统的消费观念,在个体和社会结构的夹缝中通过不节制主导的消费实践,寻求自我取悦和自我解放,探索生活可能性;在网络消费、海外代购等多样化的平台和借贷工具的干预下实现消费自由,进行身份认同的自我建构,在结构性条件下追求自我为中心的生活,形成"准成人"独特的自我文化。

Consumption is one of the most important perspectives to examine social change.In a society dominated by consumers,the daily consumption practice of emerging adult in the emerging adulthood presents different characteristics,and invisible poverty has become a common social phenomenon.On the basis of literature review and field investigation,this paper focuses on the daily consumptive practices of emerging adult,trying to explain the causes of invisible poverty among young people,and to understand the individualized implications and social significance of the daily consumptive behaviors practiced by emerging adult.The research finds that in the consumer society,invisible poverty becomes the self-choice of emerging adult,who breaks the traditional consumptive concept and explores the possibility of life through unrestrained and dominant consumptive practice between individuals and social structure.With the help of diversified platforms and tools such as online consumption and cross-border online shopping,they can obtain the freedom of consumption and the self-construction of identity,pursue a self-centered life under the structural conditions,which form a unique self-culture of emerging adult.
