The Study and Restoration of Western Zhou "Bo-zuo-lü" Yan

西周伯作旅甗,因内壁铸有铭文“伯作旅甗”4字而得名,是炊器的分期与断代、铜器铭文的考释与研究,以及宝鸡地区相关文化和铜器艺术研究的重要实物证据。此甗上下一体式整铸,3分范,出土距今已有60多年,出土年代久远资料匮乏,文物残损严重,铭文虽短极有地方特色,经过科学的保护修复必是一件不可多得的展陈臻品。

Made in the Western Zhou dynasty,"Bo-zuo-lü"Yan is named after the four characters"Bo-Zuo-Lü-Yan"carved on the vessel’s inner wall.The object provides important material evidence for the dating of cooking vessels,the interpretation and study of copperware s inscriptions as well as the Baoji region’s relevant culture and copper art studies.The Yan was cast as a whole while the mould was divided into three parts.It was excavated more than sixty years ago.As it was discovered a long time ago,relevant materials are scarce.The piece is terribly damaged.The inscription is short yet shows distinct local characte ristics.It would definitely be a precious highlight fo r display should a scientific conse rvation be undertaken.
