李仲昭《辛未北游日记》所见同治年间运河景象

A View of the Grand Canal during the Tongzhi Period as Seen in Li Zhongzhao’s Xinwei Bei You Ri Ji

《辛未北游日记》是李仲昭于清同治十年(1871)进京会试途中所作,详细记载了其所经运河地区的交通状况、社会经济、人文风情,以及太平天国运动对民生的影响等,从多个侧面反映了同治年间的运河景象。与清代其他大运河行记相比,该文没有大段的历史、地理考证,也极少引用其他书本材料,其内容皆来自作者细致的实地考察,因而保存了大量有关大运河的第一手资料,具有极高的史料价值。

Xinwei Bei You Ri Ji was written by Li Zhongzhao in the 10th year of Tongzhi’s reign(1871)on his way to Beijing to take the Jinshi exam.It contains detailed accounts of the traffic conditions,social and economic conditions,humanities,and the impact of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom movement on people’s livelihood in the canal areas he passed through.This travel diary reflects the canal scene during the Tongzhi period of the Qing dynasty from a number of perspectives.Compared with other travel diaries of the Grand Canal in the Qing dynasty,this article does not have many proof about history and geography,and rarely cites other book materials,the contents of which all come from the author’s meticulous fieldwork,thus preserving a large number of first-hand information about the Grand Canal,which is of great historical value.
