Study on the Panama Canal in China in theFirst Half of the 20th Century

20世纪初,关于巴拿马运河的各项知识开始被介绍进中国。至中华人民共和国成立时,中国的巴拿马运河研究经历了基础认知、多角度探寻和自主探究意识的开启三个阶段。在半个世纪的时间里,中国的巴拿马运河研究取得的成果丰富多样,特征鲜明。主要表现为研究主题较为集中,运河的国际政治影响和经济功能是首要的探究领域;相关作品涉及地理学、政治学、经济学、工程学、历史学等多个学科领域;各类成果以译述或者介绍国外作品为主;研究体现了突出的时代性和研究者"学以致用"、实现"国富民强"的追求和关怀。探究20世纪上半期中国巴拿马运河研究的开展状况,对当今国内运河学研究特别是世界运河研究的开展有一定的指导意义。

At the beginning years of the 20th century,the knowledge of the Panama Canal was introduced to China.Until the founding of the People’s Republic of China,study of the Panama Canal in China experienced three stages,which are starting to know the Canal,seeking to know it from multi angels,and the beginning of the consciousness of independent study.In almost 50 years,the achievements of the Panama Canal study in China are fruitful and characteristic.Researchers focused on several subjects,among which the strategy role and economic effect of the Canal are explored most.The findings cover geography,politics,economics,engineering,history and other disciplines.Yet lots of the works are just translation or introduction of foreign studies.Jobs of the researchers reflect their pursuits and dreams of apply what they have learned and make China strong and wealthy,and also show the characteristics of that time.
