The Hunan-Guangxi corridor is a narrow corridor through Nanling Mountains, which links Hunan and Guangxi. The official water post road and overland post road in Qing Dynasty passed here. The central part of the HunanGuangxi corridor was the section from Quanzhou to Lingui.Since ancient times, the Lingqu Canal has been the traffic artery from the Central Plains to the south of the Five Ridges, connecting the Xiangjiang river and the Lijiang river.During the reign of Emperor Yongzheng of the Qing dynasty, there were three kinds of post stations named Yi,Pu and Tang on this road.Yi was distributed in the prefectures and counties.Tang was mostly distributed in the water post road.Pu was mostly distributed in the overland post road.On the whole, there were less Yi while more Pu and Tang in this road. And the relationship between Pu and Tang is closer. The water post road and overland post road generally present a parallel distribution pattern, and where they intersected usually formed larger towns.
