跨文化传播视角下藏族文化意象翻译研究——以《尘埃落定》英译本为例

A Study of Tibetan Cultural Image Translation from the Perspective of Cross-cultural Communication:A Case Study of Howard Goldblatt’s Translation of Chen Ai Luo Ding

藏族作家阿来的《尘埃落定》讲述了康巴藏族的优秀的当代少数民族文学作品。这部作品由著名汉学家葛浩文翻译成英文并于2002年在美国出版发行,受到广泛关注。对比原文本与英译本发现,葛浩文的译文对于有些藏族文化意象的翻译进行了保留,但对一些藏族文化意象进行了概括化,扭曲或是删除,以致造成了藏族文化意象的失落,未能传达出深层次的相关藏族文化,不利于藏族文化充分传播。从跨文化传播角度出发,藏族文化意象是否传播到译入语国家、效果如何,在文化意象翻译过程中需要明确译文是否将民族文化意象及其背后文化内涵正确的表达出来。为了达到翻译的准确性、实现传播效果、完成文化传播,需要做好以下几点:注重翻译策略和方法的选取;加强培养本土译者,提高译者的文化意象翻译意识;加强中外译者与作者之间的联系,采用中外译者合译;加强文化自信,对读者保持信任。

Chen Ai Luo Ding,written by Tibetan writer Alaiis,an excellent contemporary ethnic work telling a story of Kangba Tibetans.This work was translated by a famous sinologist Howard Goldblatt and then published in 2002 in America with the name of Red Poppies:A Novel of Tibet,which instantly drew wide attention.By comparing the translated text with the source text,the author is to analyze and reveal whether the connotations of Tibetan cultural images are rendered effectively and whether those Tibetan cultural images have been retained,and especially to focus on exploring the loss of some Tibetan cultural images in Howard Goldblatt’s translation from the perspective of cross-cultural communication,with an attempt to come up with some effective measures of retaining Tibetan cultural images.Hopefully,this research could promote the"going out"of Chinese ethnic literature to the outside world.
