Qi Rushan:Efforts to Visit,Record and Explain the Terms of Chinese Operas

齐如山是我国第一位抛开文本去研究曲学的曲学家。他一生的大部分时间都是去剧场戏园访问老脚名角,最后综合各家意见,归纳概括出一个符合戏剧规律的科学答案。他访求、著录和考释国剧名词术语的著作有《戏剧脚色名词考》《中国剧之组织》《脸谱》《上下场》《国剧身段谱》《戏班》等,这些著作为中国曲学研究开创了新领域和新局面。

Qi Rushan is the first music tune expert in our country to study tune science without text.He spent most of his life visiting old famous actors in theaters and playhouses.In the end,he synthesized opinions from various sources and summed up a scientific answer that conformed to the laws of drama.His works on the terms of the traditional Chinese operas,including Examination of Drama Characters and Terms,Organization of Chinese Dramas,Facial Makeup,Up and Down the Stage,Study of Chinese Operas,Drama Troupe,etc.created a new field and a new situation.
