In the era of big data,quantitative methods are more important than ever.Taking the studies on the punishment of Qing Dynasty's officials and the political stability in historical China as examples,this article analyzes the potentially positive role of quantitative methods in historical politics research,including the provision of high-quality data,testing and modifying theories in political science,and promoting effective comparisons across countries and regions.
