As an important branch of modern stylistics,functional stylistics has been a basic research trend in the field of stylistics.Functional stylistics is based on Halliday's systematic functional grammar including the ideational,the interpersonal and the textual function.When You Are Old is a love poem by Yeats which has been analyzed by scholars from the perspective of literary criticism,translation and so on.This thesis will analyze the stylistic features and thematic significance of When You Are Old on the basis of functional stylistics and clarify the feasibility of functional stylistics in poetry analysis.
