机器翻译软件对《经济学人》中隐喻修辞手法的译文处理分析——以有道在线翻译、Deep L翻译和必应在线翻译为例

Analysis of Metaphors in the The Economist by Machine Translation Software——Taking Youdao Online Translation,Deep L Translation and Bing Online Translation as examples

近年来,随着机器翻译的不断发展,机器翻译技术日趋成熟,大幅提高了翻译效率,降低了翻译成本。将机器翻译运用到科技类文本中,其准确度和匹配度已经达到相当高的水准。然而,机器翻译对修辞手法的应用和研究有待完善,翻译质量差强人意,为了研究机器翻译对修辞手法的处理情况,文章选取的题材是《经济学人》,而隐喻是经济学人文本常见的修辞手法。基于三种常见的翻译软件,分析其对隐喻修辞手法的处理以及翻译缺陷,为翻译人员和使用翻译软件的人们提供一定的参考。

In recent years,with the development of machine translation,the translation ability of it is becoming increasingly mature,which greatly improves the translation efficiency and reduces the translation cost.It is found that the accuracy and precision of machine translation has reached a high standard when machine translation is applied to scientific and technological texts.However,the application and research of rhetoric translation by machine translation software has not been perfect,and the translation quality is not satisfactory.In order to further study the translation of rhetoric in machine translation,the source text of this thesis comes from The Economist,and metaphor is a common rhetorical usage in it.Based on the three following translation software,this paper analyzes the translation of metaphors and its translation defects,and therefore provides some references for translators and people who use translation software.
