In college English teaching,reading teaching is a very important part.It is an important way for students to accumulate and use language knowledge,and it is very important for students to improve their language literacy.The relevance theory of discourse comprehension in pragmatics is an indispensable part of college English reading comprehension.This paper first discusses the concept of relevance theory,and proves the role of relevance theory in reading comprehension teaching through empirical research.
