Word formation is a way for people to create new words according to certain language laws.As the most important two different languages in the world,English and Chinese have many things in common in word formation,and also there are unique word formation methods of their own.In this paper,a large number of word-formation examples are used to analyze the sources of English and Chinese vocabulary,and to compare the similarities and differences between the two as well.
