本质主义与名词标签使用偏好的关系:同情的调节作用

The Relationship Between Essentialism and Preference of Noun Labels: Moderator Effect of Empathy

随着生活节奏的加快和人们压力的增大,患有心理疾病的人数越来越多。心理疾病易被污名化,心理疾病患者的公众态度和舆论环境亟待改善。研究采用问卷法(研究一)和实验法(研究二),探讨了本质主义信念与个体对心理疾病患者的名词标签使用偏好(污名的一种形式)之间的关系以及同情在二者关系中的调节作用。结果表明:1.个体持有的本质主义信念越强,越偏好对心理疾病患者使用名词标签;2.低同情个体对于心理疾病患者的名词标签使用偏好随着本质主义的提高而大幅提升,高同情个体的名词标签使用偏好随着本质主义的提高而略有变化。研究表明,通过降低个体的本质主义信念和提高同情心,可改善心理疾病患者的舆论环境。

As the pace of life accelerates and people’s pressures increase,the number of people suffering from mental illness is increasing.Mental illness is easily stigmatized,and the public attitude toward mental illnesses needs to be changed.This paper,by using questionnaire and the experimental method respectively,explores the relationship between essentialist beliefs and individual preferences of noun label(a form of stigma)for patients with mental illness and sympathy,and the role of regulation in the relationship between the two.The results show:1)The stronger the essentialist beliefs individuals have,the more they prefer to use noun labels for patients with mental illness;2)The low sympathy individuals’use for the noun label of patients with mental illness has greatly increased with the increase of essentialism.The preference for the noun label of high sympathy individuals has changed slightly with the improvement of essentialism.This study also shows that reducing the individuals’essentialist beliefs and improving their compassion can improve the publicopinion environment for mentally illness patients.
