唐《萧佩墓志》考释

The Epitaph of Xiao Pei from the Tang Dynasty

萧佩是唐代兰陵萧氏齐梁房家族成员之一,2012年其墓志入藏西安碑林博物馆。据志文可知,萧佩为梁明帝七世孙,唐中书令、太子太师萧嵩之曾孙,驸马都尉赠司空萧衡与玄宗女新昌公主之孙,驸马都尉赠礼部尚书萧升与肃宗女郜国公主之子,肃宗朝皇太子李诵太子妃萧氏之弟。兰陵萧氏于东晋末从东海兰陵迁至晋陵武进县,志主所属一支在高宗之后便将京兆府作为新贯所在。志主婚娶京兆韦氏,以门荫入仕,官至白水县令,因受母亲郜国公主巫蛊之祸牵连被贬房州。

Xiao Pei,a member of the Xiao clan from Lanling,Tang Dynasty,belonged to the Qi Liangfang family.In 2012,the Xi'an Beilin Museum acquired his epitaph.According to the epitaph,Xiao Pei was the seventh-generation descendant of Emperor Liang Ming and the great-grandson of Xiao Song,who held important positions as head of the secretariat and the Crown Prince's teacher.His lineage is traced back to his grandfather,Xiao Heng,an Imperial Son-in-law and posthumously honored as Minister of Works,and Princess Xinchang,the daughter of Emperor Xuanzong.Xiao Pei's father,Xiao Sheng,was also an Imperial Son-in-law and posthumously honored as Minister of Rites,while his mother was Princess Gaoguo,the daughter of Emperor Suzong.Aditionally,he was the younger brother of Princess Xiao,who was the consort of Crown Prince Li Song during Emperor Suzong's reign.During the Eastern Jin Dynasty,the Lanling branch of the Xiao clan relocated from Lanling in Donghai to Wujin County in Jinling.After the death of Emperor Gaozong,Xiao Pei's branch claimed Jingzhao Prefecture as their new ancestral origin.Xiao Pei entered into matrimony with the Jingzhao Wei family and,thanks to his family's infuence,became the magistrate of Baishui County.Unfortunately,due to his mother Princess Gaoguo being involved in a witchcraft case,Xiao Pei was implicated and subsequently exiled to Fangzhou.
