The Collection of Pottery Inscription in Shaanxi History Museum

陶文是指在陶器、建筑材料等陶质文物上面锲刻、戳印、书写的文字,具体包括陶器文字、陶俑文字、砖文瓦文等。陕西历史博物馆收藏的战国秦汉南北朝时期陶质文物很丰富,其中多见文字者,它们对于战国秦汉南北朝职官、地理、度量衡制度、器物用途、陶器内所盛之物、纪年、器物编号方式等研究都有重要价值。

Pottery inscription refers to the characters that are carved,countermarked,or written on pottery wares or potter building materials.It includes pottery ware inscription,terracotta figurine inscription,pottery brick inscription and pottery tile inscription,etc.Shaanxi History Museum has plenty collections of pottery heritage in the Warring States,the Qin and the Han Dynasty,the Northern and Southern Dynasty.Pottery inscriptions are commonly found on these collections,which have great value for the research on government,geography,metrology,ware function,contents of the pottery ware,calendar era and numbering at that period.
