The article studies the Tang唐Dynasty screen mural discovered on the western wall of the coffin chamber in Nanliwang Village南里王村,Chang’an District長安區,Xi’an City西安市,Shaanxi Province陝西省.The screen murals depict a common theme of a noble woman’s outdoor leisure activity.Murals with these features could also be found on the wall of three princes’tomb chambers.By collecting the types and summarizing the pattern of seated female figurine as a unique funerary object of the tomb owner’s image during the Tang Dynasty, the female tomb owner is presumed to be an aristocrat and has special political status and the tomb was constructed during the era of Xuanzong玄宗.Besides, the high-rank tomb is located in the cemetery of Wei family韋氏家族.According to historical documents, the Wei family was in disgrace and given special attention after the Empress Wei韋后fell from power. When the tomb was under construction, the funeral arranger understood the political situation clearly and had to swear loyalty to the imperial court by obeying the funerary system in the form and structure of the tomb.As a member of this noble family,he also tried to hold fast to the Wei family’s honour to give a complex and equivocal answer that he replaced the traditional theme of screen mural with a noble woman’s outdoor leisure activity which was a symbol of identity and status used by the royals.
