摘要
We are gathered here in Beijing today to commemorate the 1,300 th anniversary of Venerable Xuanzang’s death.This event is of profound significance to us,the members of China’s Buddhist Community and cultural sector.First of all,during 17 years of traveling westward under arduous conditions to seek the Dharma,Venerable Xuanzang established friendly cultural ties between China and other countries and ethnic groups throughout Central Asia,Western Asia,and the Indian subcontinent.
