摘要
《还乡》是托马斯·哈代创作的一部重要悲剧体小说,其中阐释了空间叙事与女性主体之间的动态关系。在维多利亚社会构筑的"纹理空间"中,女主人公尤斯塔西雅遭遇被他者化的悲剧性命运,试图在"平滑空间"里"逃逸",最终在"第三空间"里实现女性主体的"生成"。哈代通过对威塞克斯古老王国的描写,不仅呈现出地理景观的主题化特征,而且传递出作者独特的空间美学思想,在真实与想象的对话中,实现了地理学与文学的完美结合。
The Return of the Native is one of Thomas Hardy’s Wessex novels.In the striated space of Victorian society,the heroine Eustacia experiences her tragic fate as the other;in the smooth space of Egdon Heath,she realizes temporary flight from the oppression of striated space;and in the imaginary third space she was trying to construct her subjectivity.Hence the becoming of female subjectivity.By imagining the old Wessex world,Hardy not only presents the subjective features of geographical landscape,but also displays the narrative function of geographical landscape.Here lies the unique spatial philosophy of Thomas Hardy.
