Faced with the turbulent situation in the surrounding area of Lingnan after An-Shi Rebellion, some local officials rebuilt Shun Temples and erected steles,in an attempt to strengthen the connection between the local area and the Tang Dynasty and to stabilize the local society, based on the characteristics of Shun as a kind of the past emperor gods.In this process, the local officials showed a proactive attitude and played an important positive role.Under the active transformation by local officials in the Tang Dynasty, the worship of past emperors, which originally lacked of individuality and pertinence, became an important resource to deal with the sudden crisis and govern the local society. The general benevolent rule behavior of building temples and steles had also become a means to solve specific problems.
