文华图专与华中大学合并相关英文档案汇译(1936—1950年)

Compilation and Translation of Archives Concerning the Reunion of Boone Library School with Huachung University (1936-1950)

文华图专于1930年12月脱离华中大学,正式开始独立办学。不过,各方一直努力推动文华图专回归华中大学,以增强双方的办学实力。耶鲁大学神学图书馆所藏亚洲基督教高等教育联合董事会档案之华中大学档案含有一批涉及文华图专与华中大学合并动议的会议记录和往来信函,对于中国图书馆学教育史尤其是文华图专办学史研究具有很高的史料价值,但一直受到忽略。文章汇集并翻译了这批档案,以便更加全面地呈现文华图专后期与华中大学之间的纠葛。

Boone Library School separated from Huachung University in December 1932,but many parties concerned with both institutions struggled to bring about their reunion so as to strengthen their educational prestige.In Archives of the United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia,there are a large number of meeting minutes and letters concerning the reunion of Boone Library School with Huachung University.Though highly valuable to researches on the history of library education in China,especially the history of Boone Library School,they have long been neglected.Therefore,a compilation and translation of such archives is provided in this paper,aiming to make clear the later relationship between Boone Library School and Huachung University.
