Neonatal Hypocalcemia: Analysis of 48 Cases

新生儿低钙血症是指血清钙低于7~7.5mg%,或游离钙低于3.5mg%者,是新生儿期常见惊厥原因之一。本病可单独发生,或并存于新生儿其它常见病。

The author reports.48 cases of neonatal hypocalcemia. In all the cases, the level of serum calcium was below 7.5mg%. The time of onset of the disease after birth is related with the prematurity of the delivery, the diseases of the mother during pregnancy, the predisposing obstetrical factors and the baby’s nutritional status.Convulsion was the chief symptom of all the patients. 46 of them were complicated with other diseases. Serum phosphorus and alkaline phosphatase were determined simultaneously in most of the cases. ECG and urine calcium were determined in some of the cases. Convulsion was soon brought under control by means of calcium preparations combined with other treatments. The etiology of this condition was mainly attributed to hypoparathyroidism, defective renal function and deficiency in vitamin D. Different etiological fators may influence the time of onset of the disease after birth.
