Extra-abdominal Dermoid Tumors

腹壁外韧带纤维瘤或称肌腱膜纤维瘤病,起于筋膜及腱膜而浸润骨骼肌,是一种非转移性局部侵袭性纤维组织肿瘤。

9 cases of extra-abdominal desmoid tumors were analyzed and reported. The tumor is a locally invasive fibrous neoplasm arising from the musculo-aponeurotic structures. Surgeons should aware of its aggressive but benign and nonmetastasizing behavior and should differentiate it from fibrosarcoma.The most frequent site of involvement of this tumor was the gluteo-femoral region, next was the shoulder and the arm. Among these 9 cases, one was multiple tumors occured successively in different region of the right lower extremity, another one with huge mass involving the whole back and scapular region and one was complicated with dislocation of the shoulder. In two cases, the tumor extended into thepelvis through the greater sciatic notch. In three cases, a portion of popliteal artery, sciatic nerve or tibial nerve were entrapped by the infiltrating tumor. The recurrence risk of the tumor is high.It was of prime importance in establishing an accurate diagnosis before treatment. Early radical excision includ the underlying fascia, the infiltrated muscle and the surrounding tissue should be the treatment of choice.
